Pushing Yourself: The Key to Real Change
Aug 01, 2024One common question I ask my clients when we first meet is, "Do you push yourself?"
I ask this because it's essential to know if they are comfortable with feeling uncomfortable. To create real change, whether it’s within your body or your career, you have to get comfortable with feeling uncomfortable.
Why Pushing Yourself Matters
As a fitness coach, it’s my job to not only test your current level of strength but to also help you get comfortable with stepping outside your comfort zone. This is where real progress and change happen. It's in those moments of discomfort where you find the strength to push through, grow, and become stronger.
Real Stories of Real Progress
I came across some testimonials from women who work out with me, and whether or not they realized it, many of them were talking about how my workouts help them push themselves in new ways:
"My favorite part about your workouts is that sometimes you pause for a second during sets near the end and it totally confirms for me that it’s hard but I’m doing it, and it's ok to pause for a second if I need it even though the rep isn’t yet over!"
"Thank you for all that you do and how real you keep it! It is a true motivating factor for me when I hear you say how much a certain move sucked or was hard and then you keep going. I’m trying harder moves and heavier weights than I have ever attempted before!"
"You’ve continued to push me to be stronger and feel more empowered/confident in my body! You make us laugh and sweat and want to keep going even when it sucks. Your coaching and your workouts are THE BEST!!"
Want to experience some of what these women above have? Get a feel for my workout style by grabbing my free Busy Girl Workout Plan here. It’s just enough of a challenge that you can realistically fit into your current routine, without totally burning you out. Busy Girl is a 14-day, 5 days/week challenge at 30 minutes a workout… just hit play and move your body to without having to think too much about it.
Embrace the Challenge
If you’re feeling stuck, it might be because you're moving through a routine that feels comfortable. Let me be the one to challenge you to try something new. That might look like picking up a more challenging weight or pushing to stay in that plank rather than taking a break.
This is why I always give you options in my workouts. I try to remind you that there is always room for growth, you always have options, and it’s up to YOU to decide what’s right for you.
Get Out of Your Comfort Zone
So let’s get out of your comfort zone. Yes, it’s a bit scary and uncomfortable there, but just like I tell my 6-year-old...that’s what it takes to grow.
Embrace the discomfort and challenge yourself to push beyond your limits. Whether it's in the gym, at work, or in any other area of your life, real growth happens when you step outside of what feels comfortable. Remember, you have the strength to push through, and I'm here to cheer you on every step of the way.
